Do you ever just have that smell that triggers a wonderful memory. When I walk into a kitchen and smell banana bread, I think about the memories gathered around my Great Grandma Dee’s table having a slice of banana bread with breakfast slightly warmed, or as a dessert after dinner. I think about all the games, stories, and memories that were made around such a simple recipe.
When my Great Grandma Dee passed away, her daughter Donna Mae, my grandmother soon took over the tradition, and when my grandmother Donna fell ill, my mother Linda took over the tradition but it wouldn’t be my Mom if she didn’t add a bit of flair and a twist to it.
Three generations later, and each one of them always said the secret ingredient was made with a whole lot of love.
Anyone that tries this banana bread recipe, the first words are “wow, that is the best banana bread recipe I have ever had”, and to follow “I have to have this recipe”.
